The Challenge
Murney Limited were employed as part of the LV reinforcement programme to upgrade the electric mains and services to properties in the Lowedges area of Sheffield. The project formed part of essential works to upgrade the electricity infrastructure to ensure continuity of supplies and provide additional future capacity in the area.
The Solution
The works involved the excavation and reinstatement of circa 26 km of HV and LV cables through the densely populated areas Lowedges in Sheffield. A combination of methods were employed to minimise disruption to the local community which involved the use of open cut, ducting, use of service moling and same day reinstatement. In all over 420 joints were carried out live.
