The Challenge
Murney Limited were employed as part of the programme to upgrade lead water supply pipes to comply with European water quality regulations in various locations around Hull in East Yorkshire.
The Solution
The work involved the vacuum excavation of holes, one at the boundary of the properties and one at the point where the communications pipe connects into the water main in the street. The communication pipe was then replaced between the two points. The Lead pipes were replaced with Polyethylene plastic pipes to ensure lead content was kept to a minimum and met water quality regulations.
In total Murney Limited replaced in excess of 3,500 lead pipes.
All customers were proactively contacted two weeks before the commencement of works.
